Getting set up

This guide will help you set up everything you need to sync your scores onto Sanbai Ice Cream! By the end of it, you should have set up:
  • An e-amusement pass
  • A KONAMI ID account
  • A monthly subscription to KONAMI's Basic Course upgrade (~USD$3.00 per month)
Get started!
I use an e-amusement pass when I play DanceDanceRevolution
I don't have an e-amusement pass
I got an e-amusement pass, but I haven't used it yet

You'll have to start storing data on your e-amusement pass before you can hook up Sanbai Ice Cream to your account.

When you play DanceDanceRevolution at the arcade, you can use your e-amusement pass by tapping it on the e-amusement reader. Only newer DanceDanceRevolution machines have an e-amusement reader, and only some machines are connected to KONAMI's e-amusement server. Make sure your local machine is connected before you tap your e-amusement pass.

Back

You'll need an e-amusement pass to save your scores while you play DanceDanceRevolution.

An e-amusement pass is a card which allows you to login to your e-amusement account while playing DanceDanceRevolution (and other Bemani music games).

It's similar to a memory card-- it allows you to save your progress as you play so you can progressively unlock content, as well as save your scores and your settings.

If you're in Japan, you can purchase an e-amusement pass from a vending machine at your local arcade. If you're outside of Japan, they are harder to come by: your local arcade may sell them behind the counter if they carry the latest Bemani games; otherwise, you may be able to purchase them online on eBay, Amazon, or on music game social media communities such as Reddit or Facebook groups.

Creating a new KONAMI ID

You'll need to create a KONAMI ID on KONAMI's website in order to access your e-amusement account online.

A KONAMI ID is just a player account on KONAMI's website. You can register your e-amusement pass on it, and then use it to access your e-amusement account online.

An important detail is that your KONAMI ID's account should be set to the Japan region, so you have access to PASELI, which allows you to purchase an e-amusement Basic Course subscription.

Note that once you've set the region on your KONAMI ID, it cannot be changed; rather, you must create a new KONAMI ID with the desired region, then follow this guide to transfer your e-amusement account over to your new KONAMI ID.

Here is how to create a Japanese region KONAMI ID account:

The first dropdown is your region-- keep it selected as Japan, as only Japanese KONAMI IDs can subscribe to Basic Course
  • If you wish to participate in KAC in the future, you will have to also have a second KONAMI ID for the region you live in; you can switch your e-amusement card between the two accounts easily
Fill out the info:
  • The display language on the KONAMI site -- Japan region is limited to only Japanese
  • Email address (you must use a valid email address on which you can receive and interact with incoming email. You will need to interact with a verification email in order to set up your account)
  • Password (8-32 alphanumeric characters in length, no symbols other than letters and numbers, must contain a number)
  • Birthday
  • Subscribe to newsletter (Check "希望する" to subscribe, leave unchecked to not subscribe)

Detaching your e-amusement account from your KONAMI ID

If you'd like to attach a new e-amusement account to your KONAMI ID, or would like to transfer an e-amusement account to another KONAMI ID, you have to first detach the current e-amusement account from your KONAMI ID.

If you plan on using this KONAMI ID for Sanbai Ice Cream, first make sure your KONAMI ID's region is set to Japan; this is important for setting up your Basic Course. Otherwise, you will need to create a new KONAMI ID anyway, which you can find instructions on how to do here.

If you're not sure what region your KONAMI ID is set to, see these instructions on how to check.

If you're sure you want to detach your old card from your KONAMI ID, follow the instructions below:

Disconnect e-amusement account

Click here to start On the KONAMI ID you wish to detach the card from: Select the e-amusement pass you wish to detach from the KONAMI ID Click on the blue (Detach selected) button

Confirm disconnection action

Click on the blue (Confirm detachment) button

Confirm e-amusement account disconnection

The e-amusement account is no longer attached to any KONAMI ID and is free to be added to a new KONAMI ID.

Attaching your e-amusement account to your KONAMI ID

If your KONAMI ID's region is already set to Japan, the next step is to link your e-amusement pass to your KONAMI ID. If you're not sure what region your KONAMI ID is set to, you should check before you attach your e-amusement pass to it by following the instructions here.

Follow the instructions below to link your e-amusement pass to your KONAMI ID:

Determining your KONAMI ID region setting

In order to add a Basic Course subscription to your e-amusement account, your KONAMI ID must be set to the Japan region. This is in order to process payments of PASELI purchases.

If your account is set to your home region, you should keep it anyway; KONAMI may require you to use an account with your home region in some scenarios, such as participating in KAC.

Even if you have multiple KONAMI ID accounts with different region settings, it's simple to switch your e-amusement account back and forth between the KONAMI IDs as you see fit. You can follow this guide to move your e-amusement account between two KONAMI IDs.

Follow the instructions below to check the region of your KONAMI ID:

Adding a Basic Course subscription

Your e-amusement account will need a Basic Course subscription in order for KONAMI to unlock online access to your scores.

KONAMI's Basic Course subscription allows access to additional features for your e-amusement account, one of the key features being online access to your score history.

KONAMI's Basic Course costs 330 yen (approx. USD$3.00) per month; the moment you add a subscription to Basic Course and on the 1st of each month that you are subscribed to Basic Course, KONAMI will deduct 330 PASELI from your e-amusement account.

Follow the guide below to add a Basic Course subscription to your e-amusement account:

Basic Course page

Click here to start This page describes the terms of service and price of the Basic Course subscription
  • It costs 330 PASELI (~USD$3.00) per month
  • The charge occurs on the day that you subscribe, and for every month thereafter, on the first day of each month
  • This means if it is near the end of the current month, you will be charged immediately 330 PASELI for the remainder of the current month, and another 330 PASELI on the 1st of the next month. In this case, it may be better to wait until the next month rolls around to start your subscription

  • Sanbai Ice Cream uses this same level of access in order to upload your scores to Sanbai Ice Cream
Buying PASELI for your e-amusement account

PASELI is KONAMI's system currency. In Japan, you can use PASELI to play games instead of inserting money in the machine. You can also use it to pay to upgrade your KONAMI ID account.

PASELI is only purchasable using real-world money. In Japan, you can load PASELI at PASELI kiosks at your local arcade, but internationally, you can buy PASELI using your credit card.

You'll need PASELI to pay for a subscription to KONAMI's Basic Course account upgrade. This upgrade unlocks online access to your scores, so you (and Sanbai Ice Cream) can read them on the e-amusement website.

Follow the guide below to add PASELI to your e-amusement account:
